Habits are the recurring things you want to keep doing — not tasks with due dates, but behaviours with a cadence.
A habit has a cadence rather than a deadline: every day, a set number of times per week, specific weekdays. You can change a habit's cadence later without losing its history.
Check in from the habits view, or from the week strip on your dashboard. Check-ins are per-occurrence — missing yesterday doesn't erase the streak's history, it just shows up as a gap.
Each habit gets a calendar heatmap of its check-ins. It's deliberately the plainest possible view of the truth: a habit you've done four times in six weeks looks like a habit you've done four times in six weeks.
A habit can be linked to a real calendar event, so the time is actually reserved rather than merely intended. Scheduling creates the event; unlinking removes the connection but leaves your check-in history intact.
This matters for capacity: a habit that occupies calendar time is counted against your available hours like anything else, so your plan doesn't quietly assume the gym takes zero time.
Settings → Habits controls defaults — reminder behaviour and how habits appear on the dashboard.
