Task management

A task is the smallest unit of work FocusAnalyze tracks. Everything else — plans, capacity, reports — is built on top of them.

What a task holds

Subtasks

Tasks can have subtasks, one level deep. That limit is deliberate: deeper trees made the list view unreadable and, in practice, a three-level task is usually two tasks. If you're reaching for more nesting, a description checklist is normally the better shape.

Ways to create a task

• In the UI — the + in a project, or inline on a board column.
• With FocusAI — *"add a task to fix the signup redirect, about two hours, due

Friday."* FocusAI proposes it; you approve. Bulk creation works the same way — one proposal card covering all of them.

Tasks vs events

A task is work. An event is time. A task with a Friday due date is a commitment to finish by Friday; it doesn't reserve any hours. Scheduling is what turns a task into time on your calendar — either by hand, or as part of a plan.

This distinction is why estimates matter: an unestimated task can't be scheduled honestly, and won't count toward your capacity.
