Planning and plans

Planning is the loop FocusAnalyze is built around: draft → commit → do → compare → reflect. Everything else feeds it.

Draft

A draft plan is a proposal for a day or a week. FocusAI builds it from your open tasks and their estimates, your existing calendar, and your capacity budget.

Drafts are free. Nothing is written to your calendar, so asking for three different shapes of a week costs nothing but a few seconds.

You can edit a draft directly — remove tasks, resize or move blocks, reorder — before committing any of it.

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "screenshotPlaceholder", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop

Commit

Committing writes the plan's time blocks to your calendar and records the plan itself. From that point on, FocusAnalyze can measure what you intended against what happened.

Nudges

If the day is running and your committed plan and your calendar have diverged — a block passed untouched, a meeting ate a work block — you'll get a nudge. It's a prompt to re-plan, not an alarm; nudges can be turned off in Settings → Planner.

Plan vs actual

The performance view compares each committed plan against reality: which blocks happened, which slipped, where the estimate was wrong. This is the payoff for keeping estimates honest, and it's what makes the next plan better than the last.

See Performance.

Reflection

At the close of a planned period you can record a short reflection — what worked, what didn't, what you'd change. Reflections are attached to the plan, show up in your journal, and give FocusAI something real to reason from instead of guesses about your working style.

Planner settings

Settings → Planner controls how planning behaves: working hours, how aggressively blocks are packed, whether nudges fire, and what a default planning day looks like.
